
The privacy of personal information, particularly of living individuals, is of the utmost importance to this project. The vision of the LILLARD PROJECT is to combine all the separate genealogies of the individual LILLARD branches into an overall genealogy of African American Families with the surname LILLARD, in order to tell the LILLARD FAMILY'S complete, all-inclusive, and very rich story, as well as, provide a framework and understanding of its origins, history, and major accomplishments. Yes, this really is a big vision, but I'm confident it can be realized through collaborative effort and partnership. Now, African American families with the surname Lillard, as well as others, are able to digitally connect with the NMAAHC, and preserve and share their family stories by uploading audio, video, photographs and other archives via the NMAAHC's Community Curation Program. One of the most invaluable resources for African American Families is the new Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. (The resources listed below, will, hopefully, be helpful in accomplishing this objective.) The goal of this project is to have each major branch of African American Families with the surname LILLARD compile a complete genealogy of its own branch.
